Brian Eno Encourages Support to Send Together for Palestine Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The project hopes to send support to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
A Chance for Support and an "Chart Upset"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.
“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”
Powerful Theme of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The song was recorded in the wake of a solidarity show held in September. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the performance was cut from the show due to the event running long.
The diverse array of artists featured on Lullaby features a group of prominent voices from the scene. All took part in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was crafted by a team of music creators. The single blends a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the project have stated that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These resources will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We don’t have a specific target,” a representative explained. “We aim for as much as possible. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The situation in the region was described as its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of property described as in ruins or severely impacted.
“Against that backdrop, a couple of million is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is primarily raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”
The song is launching on Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
